Yeah, 97 Masters, that was a week
00:04
where there was real anticipation that Tiger Woods
00:06
could do something.
00:07
Here was the first player who had everything.
00:10
Jack Nicklaus is the greatest
00:12
but Jack Nicklaus had some holes in his game,
00:15
not big ones, but the wedge was never very good.
00:17
Tiger had an incredible short game
00:20
and everybody was kind of waiting, you know.
00:24
Will he actually become the super player?
00:26
He has this capacity.
00:28
And Augusta was where it happened.
00:30
You know, I remember Saturday that we finished the round,
00:32
you know, he stiffed that wedge on 18 or nine iron,
00:34
what ever it was.
00:35
And so it's gonna be like coronation on Sunday.
00:37
I remember being actually in the parking lot
00:39
while Tiger was still on the course
00:41
trying to talk to players who were leaving
00:43
to get some reaction.
00:44
And Ben Crenshaw was there and he just kind of stopped
00:47
and he goes, You know, it feels like a passing.'
00:49
And you know, he's very sensitive, poetic kind of guy
00:51
and it was like, I can feel an era changing.
00:55
I can feel the game never gonna be the same,
00:57
at least while this kid's around.
