Fossil Trace Golf Club is a premium
facility located in Golden, Colorado
which is just 20 minutes from downtown Denver.
We want to be your country club for the day
and that's staff's job to do everything possible
to ensure a guest is enjoying their day.
Wherever you're coming from around the country
or around the world, when you finish playing here
we want you to have the golf experience,
not just a simple round of golf.
Anybody can provide that.
[Jamie] Is today a typical day
you'd expect at Fossil Trace?
Today is pretty typical.
We go over 300 days worth of actual sunshine in Colorado
but there could be a predominant breeze which will
come away from the mountains and typically head
away from the west and head to the east.
Certainly can affect your game.
It can affect some of the holes we'll be looking at later.
[Jamie] To someone who's not from Colorado,
how would you suggest they adjust their game playing here?
First thing I want them to do when they come play
Fossil Trace Golf Club is bring their camera
and make sure their camera is charged up,
ready to take lots of photos
but adjustments for playing in Colorado
we're about 56, 5700 feet
so the golf club typically go
about eight to 10 percent further.
So make that adjustment when you come out
and play Fossil Trace.
Jamie, welcome to number one.
One of the best starting holes in the state.
We've been voted that a half-a-dozen times or better.
Par five, slight dog left, you can hit as much
as you want or as little as you want.
Straight down the middle, right?
We're 95 yards which is gonna play 85 if you're playing
at sea level because of the difference.
Even though there's a breeze in the face,
the breeze doesn't have nearly as much kick
as it does if you're playing in the UK or anywhere else.
That'll be right.
[Jamie] You son-of-a-gun.
You just dropped the mike on me?
[Jim] I'm out.
Good one, good one.
[Jim] Needs a little love.
Is that inside?
[Jim] Dude, I think that's closer.
[Jamie] Ahhoooooo hooooo hooooo.
Fossil Trace is all about risk, reward
so every player's gonna step on this tee box
and fire away trying to knock it on the green in one
on this Par four.
Lake is full of balls.
The people who thought they could do that.
Stay left, stay left, right on the edge, isn't it?
You're right in the little spot where you can be.
So the property itself was actually developed in 2003
but has history back 68 million years ago
and we say that because there's dinosaur fossils
on the back side of number 12.
What you're looking at, no one else in the world
has this except Fossil Trace and we're very honored
to have it as part of our experience.
So Jamie, you can hit anywhere from basically three wood
to a driver off the tee box puts you in this area.
This is generally a layup par five.
You can go for it in two but it's kinda
challenging up there.
Long iron, maybe hybrid over the top of these stones,
playing into there, and you're gonna leave you about
a hundred yards left into that green.
A very scorable hole.
There's a little risk involved if you want to
but you're gonna have to have two really good shots
to get there.
Low and hard.
That's gonna be straight to the rocks.
Haaaa haaaa haaaa.
Have you ever seen a golf ball go backwards?
[Jim] I honestly, I could give you a hundred dollars
you couldn't do that again.
Nicely played, sir.
Go on, go on, ahhhhhahahaha.
[Jamie] Listen, thank you so much for such a great day.
[Jim] Great to have you out to the club.
We end on a perfect evening again.
It's time for a cool adult beverage up on the deck.
[Jamie] Up to the 19th, here we go.
