[Gil] At only 303 yards for the men and 264 for the women,
00:14
the 16th hole on the Rio Olympic Course is the shortest
00:17
par 4 on the property and intentionally drivable.
00:20
There's out of bounds down the left hand side,
00:22
but that really shouldn't be in play
00:24
unless the right-to-left wind is blowing extra hard.
00:27
But this hole is no pushover even though it's short.
00:30
There's a big mound in the middle of the fairway
00:31
about 20 yards short of the green, and this small,
00:35
hourglass-shape green offers some pretty extreme
00:37
hole locations in all four corners.
00:42
The left side of the green has a very sharp falloff,
00:44
all tightly mowed, and the deep bunker to the right side
00:47
of the green is also part of the defense.
00:50
If you get yourself out of position,
00:51
you really could struggle to make a birdie here.
