[Gil] The back nine of the Rio Olympic course
00:12
also starts off with a par 5.
00:14
This one playing 590 yards for the men
00:17
and 526 for the women.
00:20
If the prevailing wind is blowing it's really
00:22
one of the tougher tee shots on the course,
00:24
because players have water down the left hand side
00:26
and the wind blows across from left to right,
00:29
so they almost have to hit a draw to hold it into the wind,
00:31
and nobody wants to hit a draw with water down the left.
00:34
The best play on the second shot,
00:36
if they don't go for the green,
00:38
is to again carry the water and stay close to it
00:40
down the left side so they open up an approach
00:43
from the far left.
00:44
The green is another one that's not very deep to the
00:46
line of play, but very wide.
00:48
Because we wanted that angle in from the left.
00:51
There are bunkers in the front and back of the green and,
00:54
overall, this is a very strategic, positional par 5 hole.
