The Grind: Dustin & Paulina's "major" PDA & Drake's questionable golf attire
Alex Myers discusses Dustin Johnson and Paulina Gretzky's "major" PDA at Oakmont, Drake's questionable golf attire, and Holly Sonders' U.S. Open scripting.
Released on 6/21/2016
From One World Trade Center, I'm Alex Myers
and this is The Grind.
What's up guys?
Here's what I'm buying and selling this week
after a crazy US open.
I'm buying Dustin Johnson,
who finally won that first Major Championship.
And he only had to overcome the field,
the course, a rules controversy and even
a pro tracer going off right before his final swing.
Thanks for making me look good, DJ.
In my fantasy column and on every radio show
I went on last week, I predicted you to win.
Unfortunately, I didn't put any money on DJ,
but you can't put a price on bragging rights.
I'm also buying DJ's driving.
For the week, Dustin led the field in driving distance
and strokes and off the tee,
gaining nearly ten strokes on the field.
He also carried his tee shot 328 yards,
just moments after being informed
he might be penalized after the round.
Now that's causing the ball to move, USGA.
Speaking of the USGA, I'm selling golf's governing body.
I know it's tough to be that teacher
who has to enforce the rules, but this was absurd.
When Dustin, his playing partner and the rules official
on the fifth hole deemed he had done nothing wrong,
that should have been the end of the discussion.
Instead, we had to wait an hour and a half
before someone told him he might get penalized
after the round.
Can you imagine if an NBA official
waited until the end of the game to check
if a shot in the first quarter was a two or a three pointer?
And I'm buying Dustin and Paulina.
What a love story.
And these two finally got to celebrate a Major Championship.
And props to her for not going the route
of Stephen Curry's wife, and criticizing the officials.
And for those of you criticizing Paulina's Sunday outfit,
including my wife,
maybe she did just come from playing tennis.
You don't know.
Switching away from the US Open,
here's this week in Celebrities Playing Golf.
This video of Drake hitting a golf ball surfaced
and it couldn't be more disappointing.
Come on Drake.
Look at that outfit.
A suit with flip-flops?
And look at that swing.
And as always, we end with some random
but important, questions to ponder.
Is the Dalai Lama really a big hitter?
Have you ever played golf?
You're not a big hitter?
[Bret Baier] But not golf?
Thanks to Fox News' Bret Baier, we now know he is not.
In fact, His Holiness has never even seen Caddyshack
or played golf.
Who's in charge of the US Open scripting
for Fox's Holly Sonders?
I don't know, but she wore a blue dress
for two days in a row.
Not that I should talk.
Here's a look at my US Open scripting for the week.
Can the USGA penalize me for bed-head?
And number three:
Am I addicted to golf?
Well, after four straight days on the couch,
I finally got to go to the driving range,
only to find out it was closed.
I then bribed someone with ten bucks and the line,
I just need a taste,
to get him to give me a handful of golf balls.
So you be the judge.
Thanks for watching.
