All hail Daniel Jones, the future King of New York
Alex Myers discusses Daniel Jones’ impressive NFL debut for the New York Giants, which had fans already forgetting about Eli Manning.
Released on 9/23/2019
So Daniel Jones made his first NFL start
with the New York Giants on Sunday.
Let me start by saying something my wife
wishes she heard more, I was wrong.
I was wrong when I said Jones sucked last year
after my Wake Forest Demon Deacons destroyed
his Duke Blue Devils 59 to seven.
I should have just chocked that up to Duke
being Duke at football.
I was wrong again when my New York Giants made Jones
the number six pick in the NFL draft
and I nearly broke my TV in a fit of rage.
Using a top 10 pick on a quarterback from Duke
seemed comparable to shopping for a tuxedo at Walmart,
again I was wrong.
But guess what just about everyone else including the rest
of the NFL was wrong about Jones, as well.
In just one start Jones showed off his strong arms,
some surprisingly speedy legs
and the same type of toughness, guts and poise
Giants fans have gotten used to seeing
from predecessor Eli Manning.
The guy looks like a total stud.
He also happens to look a lot like Eli.
Giants' ownership really has a type.
Speaking of Manning the two time Superbowl MVP
couldn't have handled handing over the reigns any better.
Of course, it helps when you're making 17 million
to hold a clipboard.
But seriously that guy is all class,
long live Eli the Great.
He will be missed as will the Eli Manning face.
So thanks for everything Eli but, the Daniel Jones era
is here and it's off to an undefeated start.
Of course the Giants won't win every game
with DJ under center.
For one thing they won't get to play
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers again.
For another, the rest of the roster might as well
be the Duke Blue Devils, especially after super star
running back Saquon Barkley went down
with a high ankle sprain.
At least this rookie still has Odom Beckham Junior
to throw it to, oh right GM Dave Gettleman
traded him for basically a bag of footballs.
But Gettleman did draft Daniel Jones
so he can't be a total bozo.
Speaking of Beckham I wear a fancy watch to work, too.
Well, I wear a watch that is and at least it's real.
Anyway I was wrong about Daniel Jones,
but I'm happy to be wrong.
And I'm happy to have another golfer leading the way
for the Giants.
So please Daniel forgive me for doubting you,
you're my guy now.
Let's hit the links sometime to get to know each other.
Maybe Eli can get us out on Liberty National.
Just a thought.
In the meantime keep proving all the haters wrong, big guy.
And try not to get killed behind that offensive line.
