I'm Ed Sanders, I'm the global marketing director
00:37
for Google Glass.
00:38
I work within Google X which is, if you like,
00:40
Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory of Google.
00:43
The place that's spawned driverless cars and Google Glass
00:46
and the contact lense which tests your glucose levels
00:50
for helping diabetics and that sort of crazy stuff.
00:53
It's a really magical place.
00:56
It's a place that I think has all the things
00:59
that you know and love about Google,
01:01
but the mad scientist approach as well.
01:03
So Google Glass, we like to think of it as smart eyewear.
01:06
It's a device which sits above your eye,
01:08
it's lightweight, kind of like a pair of glasses
01:11
but with a really powerful computer built in.
01:14
Like your smartphone computer, but up here.
01:17
The world, there's an interesting paradox
01:19
in that people are really weighed down by technology
01:22
and one of the things we found with Glass
01:26
or wearing technology close to you
01:28
actually can help it get out of the way.
01:30
When you have a device that sits up
01:33
and is very in tune with your senses,
01:35
you're not buried in the smartphone,
01:37
you're not down looking at the tablet
01:38
you're up and living in the world
01:40
and actually try to catch your moments
01:41
of things you already love and things you're already doing.
01:44
You're in this interesting situation when you play golf
01:46
that you use a whole bunch of stuff.
01:49
From the minute I wake up in the morning
01:52
to when I finish my round, I've used, on any given day
01:55
when I play golf, a phone, a camera, a video camera,
01:59
a cottage book, course guide, score card, pencil,
02:03
rangefinder, you name it, there's eight to 10 things
02:06
that you're always digging in your pockets
02:09
and you're digging in your bag and trying to get it out.
02:11
And so we thought with Glass
02:13
wouldn't it be a tremendous opportunity to consolidate?
02:17
There's a really good spectrum, I think,
02:19
of at the pro level that how can I help my game
02:22
just that little tiny bit, those little tweaks
02:24
which are the difference between winning and losing.
02:26
But all the way through to your 27-36 handicapper
02:30
on the weak end who wants to not only go to the range
02:34
and find out why the ball's shanking off to the right,
02:36
but also when he or she is playing a round of golf,
02:39
to be able to have that wonderful consolidation play
02:42
and score and get course info
02:44
and find out how far they are from the pin
02:47
seamlessly and heads up.
