[Narrator] For more than eight decades,
00:01
golf and charity have gone hand in hand.
00:04
The PGA tour is closing in on $3 billion
00:07
in charitable giving and that's not including
00:09
the professional athletes, entertainers
00:12
and everyday golfers who have raised billions more
00:14
for communities and individuals across America.
00:18
Golf Digest continues to recognize and celebrate
00:20
these individuals with its annual Arnie Awards,
00:23
named for the late Arnold Palmer who for 60 years
00:26
demonstrated a commitment to charity
00:29
we should all try to emulate.
00:31
Golf Digest is awarding $50,000 each
00:33
to the Arnie's Army Charitable Foundation
00:37
and to the Monterey Peninsula Foundation,
00:39
host to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-AM
00:41
and Pure Insurance Championship.
00:44
The Monterey Peninsula Foundation
00:46
alone contributes well over 10 million annually
00:49
to non-profits in schools on California's Central Coast.
00:53
The Arnie Awards this year go to World Golf
00:55
Hall of Fame member Davis Love III,
00:58
Emmy Award-Winning CBS Sportscaster Jim Nantz
01:01
and three-time Grammy Award winner Darius Rucker.
01:05
In 2005, Davis Love III founded the Davis Love Foundation
01:10
which has hosted the RSM Classics since 2010
01:14
and has raised more than $9 million to benefit
01:17
children and families in need.
01:19
Seven years ago, Jim Nantz founded the
01:21
Nantz National Alzheimer Center
01:23
at Houston Methodist Hospital which in addition to providing
01:26
treatment to those afflicted with Alzheimer's
01:29
is conducting important research aimed at
01:32
finding a cure for the disease.
01:33
Darius Rucker conducts annual tournaments in Las Vegas
01:37
and Nashville to benefit St. Jude's Children Hospital.
01:41
He is also a Board Member and active fundraiser
01:43
for the MUSC Children's Hospital
01:46
in Charleston, South Carolina.
01:48
With the presentation of these Arnie Awards,
01:50
we salute and commend the individuals
01:52
who reflect the values, compassion
01:55
and generosity of Arnold Palmer.
