To hit great pit shots you need two basic elements:
00:24
consistent bottom to the swing and little bounce
00:26
on the sole of the club so it easily cuts through the grass.
00:30
To put this plan into action, start with the ball
00:33
in the middle of your stance.
00:35
With your elbows soft and your shoulders level,
00:37
align the shaft with your belt buckle
00:39
and the buttons of your shirt.
00:42
From here, lean your upper body a touch towards the target.
00:46
This little adjustment puts the bottom of the swing
00:48
in perfect position for a ball first hit.
00:51
In addition, you'll notice when the shaft is tilted only
00:53
slightly forward, you can really take advantage
00:55
of the club's bounce allowing the head to glide
00:57
through the turf.
00:59
When it comes to good short game play, the secret
01:01
to clean contact is all in your set-up,
01:05
and this a great strategy that will really improve
01:08
the delicate shots here on the green.
01:11
On the course, make sure you remember bottom and bounce.
01:14
You'll be getting even the most difficult shots
01:16
up and down with ease.
