Lot of myths in the world of short game.
00:02
And one of the biggest I see out there
00:03
is that you have to set up
00:05
with your body open to the target
00:07
and swing the golf club down
00:08
and left really hard
00:10
to hit good pitch shots and chip shots.
00:12
And I'm here to tell you that's really dangerous.
00:15
It can cause some accuracy problems.
00:16
It can cause some ball position problems
00:18
and some trajectory problems.
00:20
I think a better way to do it would
00:22
just think square and straight.
00:24
And so instead of setting up
00:25
with your body open and as you hit
00:27
the shot swinging left,
00:29
I want you to square your body
00:31
ball position somewhere near
00:34
the front half of your stance
00:35
and when you swing this
00:37
just make it go at the target
00:38
instead of left.
00:40
I'll demonstrate.
00:43
(ball swooshing)
00:45
You can see here everything is moving at the target
00:47
from a square position.
00:49
That should help your accuracy
00:50
and your trajectory control
00:52
when you get out there around the greens.
