00:00
Why yes, we do have the number one podcast in golf
00:02
and I know you're all dying to learn more about it.
00:05
What would you say was our breakthrough moment really,
00:07
in the show?
00:08
Well Geoff, lemme tell you.
00:09
The first thing, the most important thing is to be handsome.
00:12
(chuckling)
00:13
You start with handsome and then from there, preparation,
00:16
I would say.
00:16
Watching the golf?
00:17
Watching the golf. PGA tour?
00:18
Feet up, a lot of feet up.
00:20
That's the other important thing, I would say.
00:22
Also, food placement, very key to a successful podcast.
00:27
Chips to the right,
00:29
beer to the left. I had a quick question,
00:30
ShackHouse.
00:32
Where does Bill Simmons constantly pimping your show to a
00:34
gazillion Twitter followers play into your secret sauce?
00:39
Bill Simmons?
00:40
Don't you have a show to do?
00:42
Oh!
00:43
Live show, no script?
00:44
ShackHouse?
00:45
What could possibly go wrong?
00:48
(upbeat music)
01:03
(applauding) Hey, wait, wait, wait!
01:05
(cheering) Woah, hey, hey!
01:08
How are 'ya?
01:09
That's alright.
01:12
How you guys doin'?
01:13
Good to see you!
01:14
This is Callaway Live, I'm Harry Arnett.
01:16
Do you know how I know that?
01:17
It said it, before I came out here.
01:19
We have to keep it G rated, we have some little people
01:21
in the audience tonight. (laughing)
01:23
So keep it very G rated, which means I'm gonna go ahead
01:26
and introduce Amanda Balionis right here in the XR Bar.
01:29
(cheering)
01:30
Yes, thank you, thank you.
01:32
(laughs)
01:34
We're only serving milkshakes, milk in sippy cups tonight.
01:38
Is that cool with you guys?
01:40
No, they said, alright. (laughing)
01:42
Okay, well, it may not be milk and it may not be sippy cups.
01:45
Thanks everybody for being here.
01:46
This is gonna be an awesome show.
01:47
We have Geoff Shackelford here, we have Joe House here.
01:50
Together, they formed Salt-N-Pepa.
01:53
Do you guys remember that from the--?
01:54
No, I'm just joking.
01:55
ShackHouse, a gazillion downloads of their podcast so far.
02:00
That's a real number, I looked it up, one gazillion.
02:03
That's one, you know how many zeros are after a gazillion?
02:06
[Audience Member] A gazillion?
02:07
Gazillion, exactly.
02:08
So one gazillion downloads.
02:11
They launched this podcast, maybe a couple months
02:14
ago and it really took the golf industry by storm.
02:17
One of the things that people started to, I don't know,
02:20
maybe criticize a little bit was a little overindulgence
02:23
in the Callaway branding and commercial reads on their show,
02:26
which we loved.
02:28
But these guys are pros and they're the ones
02:31
that actually brought them to us,
02:32
because we were giving them very generic reads.
02:35
They're just such professionals, check out Joe House
02:37
how he lives his everyday life, as he's on the telephone
02:39
doing his real job.
02:42
So look, we gotta liquidate our position in this stock.
02:44
It's maximized its performance,
02:46
we're in the black on the ROI.
02:49
Speaking of black, did you know that Callaway has released
02:51
Apex Irons in an all-black finish?
02:54
That's right, my man.
02:55
Same premium performance you've come to trust
02:57
from the number one iron in golf, now available with a
03:00
special satin finish, a black shaft, and a black grip.
03:04
(laughing)
03:06
Very smooth, very natural.
03:08
Kinda easy for Joe, you can see he's a natural salesguy.
03:11
A little bit more difficult for Geoff Shackelford
03:14
to do these, but he's also very professional.
03:16
He's doing his media job, talking to tour players,
03:19
slipping in the live reads that we've slipped in there.
03:21
Check this out.
03:23
Alright, so a few more questions for you.
03:25
Your ability to change your game has clearly been the key
03:28
to your recent victory on tour, is that right?
03:31
Uh huh, uh huh, oh really?
03:34
Really, oh wow.
03:36
Hey, wait a second.
03:37
Before you answer that, speaking of changing the game,
03:39
how 'bout that new Chrome Soft from Callaway?
03:42
Have you heard about that?
03:43
We talked about it on the ShackHouse podcast.
03:45
It's the ball that changed the ball.
03:47
It has a new Dual SoftFast Core, provides increased
03:49
distance through the bag and soft, amazing touch and feel
03:51
around the green.
03:52
Go to callawaygolf.com right now.
03:55
Oh, so you said, about 15?
03:58
(laughing) Alright, that's ShackHouse.
04:00
We're gonna find out just how good these guys are
04:02
at pimpin' our product in a little bit.
04:04
Stick around, we'll be right back with ShackHouse.
04:06
(cheering)
04:13
I don't always watch TV, but when I do,
04:15
I never watch Callaway Live.
04:17
Harry and the game will be right back with ya.
04:23
Travis Fulton here, another Callaway 30 Seconds to Better.
04:26
And talk fairway woods here.
04:27
XR 16, known for ball speed.
04:30
If you want more ball speed, hit the 16,
04:33
and also get the ball position in the right spot.
04:35
So here's what I want you to do.
04:37
Put your feet together, take your front foot,
04:39
flare it out a little bit, take a little step,
04:42
big step with the right, you've got the ball positioned
04:44
now in the right spot for better ball speed.
04:52
(applauding)
04:55
Welcome back to Callaway Live, I'm Harry Arnett.
04:58
You can watch a bunch of other content just like that
05:00
with Travis Fulton, on our new Apple TV app,
05:05
if you guys watch that on our Apple TV channel.
05:06
Do you guys have Apple TV, anyone?
05:08
(smattering of cheers)
05:09
What?
05:10
You guys are so cheap, it's like 99 bucks!
05:12
(laughing)
05:13
Go get it!
05:14
Come on, we have our own channel there now.
05:16
I'm gonna test you next time I run into you.
05:18
Our guests tonight, as we mentioned before, you guys
05:21
know Geoff Shackelford from years and years and years
05:23
of having one of the most popular websites
05:25
in all of golf, GeoffShackelford.com.
05:28
He's a contributor to Golf Digest.
05:29
He's a contributor to the Golf Channel.
05:31
You also know Joe House, who has been a contributor
05:35
to the Bill Simmons podcast for years and years and years.
05:38
Put them together, and what do you have?
05:40
[Amanda] ShackHouse.
05:42
Right, let's try this.
05:44
Shack ...
05:44
[Audience] House.
05:46
Shack ...
05:47
[Audience] House.
05:47
Alright, we're gonna edit that out, that was terrible.
05:49
(laughing)
05:50
Please welcome to the show, Geoff Shackelford
05:52
and Joe House, aka ShakeHouse!
05:55
(cheering)
05:57
There they are!
06:00
What guys, what guys!
06:02
I don't know what you were doing there!
06:05
What was that?
06:06
What was that all about? I don't know.
06:08
Good to see you, good to see you.
06:09
I'm not even gonna do a bro hug.
06:11
Have a seat.
06:12
Yeah.
06:14
So you guys wanted to do a podcast.
06:15
I'm curious, how did this even happen, because you're
06:19
sort of like the Odd Couple to me.
06:21
You got Geoff, I mean look at Geoff.
06:22
He was ironing his jeans when we saw him earlier.
06:27
I take personally.
06:29
When I do that, there's something wrong.
06:30
Joe, no socks for Joe today.
06:32
California cool, bro!
06:33
Is that what this is, alright.
06:35
I mean you had the surfer on earlier in the week.
06:36
So both of you had, in separate parts of the world,
06:40
an idea that the world really needed a golf podcast
06:44
that everybody would listen to and like, huh?
06:47
Well golf, like most things is usually a little bit behind
06:49
and podcasting was one of the those things where there
06:52
weren't a whole lotta podcasts.
06:55
Bill Simmons has a certain audience and vibe about
06:59
what he does and we wanted to pick up on that and be ...
07:02
We're fans, even though I do media work and I'm supposed
07:06
to not be rooting, and there's supposed to be no rooting
07:08
in the press box kind of thing, that's nonsense.
07:11
If you don't view golf as a fan and write about it
07:15
and cover it as a fan, people are gonna know that
07:17
and they're not gonna really enjoy it.
07:18
I think that's why Bill resonates, right?
07:20
Yeah, that's right.
07:20
The thing that was super compelling about it,
07:24
now first of all, Simmons called me up and he's like,
07:27
What do you think about golf--
07:28
I love it! I'm in.
07:29
That was my answer..
07:30
You were outed.
07:31
You were a closeted golfer, nobody knew, in the world
07:35
of sports, they were shocked to find out
07:36
that he was a golf nut.
07:37
Was golf cool in the world that you were involved in,
07:41
in Bill's world, which is all mainstream sports,
07:44
the big four, and a lot of pop culture,
07:48
golf, not so cool a lot of times, to those kinda guys.
07:51
But the stories are always cool, right?
07:55
So Bill's been a golf fan his whole life and we,
07:59
on his podcast, he started doing podcasts in 2007,
08:02
before there was even such a thing.
08:04
I don't even know if the internet existed then.
08:07
He would often talk golf stories, 'cause Tiger was doin'
08:11
his thing through a stretch there, Phil was pretty good
08:14
for a stretch in there.
08:16
So golf has always been, it's not basketball, which is
08:21
our bread and butter and Simmons in particular, or football,
08:25
but there's always been great stories in golf.
08:27
The thing that made this podcast such a great and obvious
08:32
idea is we should be doing an irreverent fan perspective
08:37
on golf in a podcast because nobody was doin' it!
08:42
Yeah, I really love the fact that Bill threw out,
08:44
right outta the gate, There are zero good golf podcasts!
08:48
That was really cool.
08:50
We were like, No, wait a second!
08:52
Right outta the gate.
08:54
It did set the bar a little high, especially 'cause
08:55
we know that the Callaway golf podcast is sensational.
08:58
Exactly! That's true.
08:59
Right, AJ? Exactly.
09:01
Brought to you by Chrome Soft, the only ball--
09:04
no, I'm just kidding.
09:05
So right outta the gate, though, you guys, number one
09:09
on iTunes for podcasts in the first week of your existence.
09:14
That had to blow you away.
09:16
It blew me away.
09:17
I had no idea that ...
09:23
Honestly, and I'll have a quick sincere, earnest moment,
09:29
all credit to Simmons.
09:32
For a guy that had spent a lot of time building a brand
09:36
and a whole career and really working with ESPN
09:39
to develop something, starting out on his own, and he,
09:43
when working with us on the idea, and you guys,
09:46
of doing something in golf, and we jump in, and right away,
09:50
right to the top.
09:51
It was a big surprise.
09:52
Are you tearing up right now?
09:53
I just wanted to have little, I have one sincere moment.
09:56
That's all.
09:57
So what's been the biggest surprise to you about
09:59
how it started and obviously working with Joe,
10:03
'cause you had never met Joe before you guys started
10:05
talking on the phone and deciding to do this?
10:09
We were discussing this on the way over,
10:11
I think the biggest surprise, Was it tender?
10:13
I think it was tender, was it not?
10:15
No. Oh, it wasn't, oh sorry.
10:16
No, no, no, no.
10:17
(laughing)
10:19
We have, I think, found Bill's brand, that's so
10:23
beloved and respected by his followers and then
10:29
the people he surrounds himself with are amazing,
10:32
but I don't think they realized that golf is very popular,
10:38
has a passionate following, and is something that's
10:40
interesting to talk about.
10:42
So I think we shocked them a little bit.
10:45
We've gotten a lot of great feedback from people
10:47
who didn't realized that golf talk could be interesting.
10:50
I think maybe even Bill might be a little bit surprised.
10:53
On his podcast, he makes comments to that effect.
10:57
It's a little condescending, I mean, come on,
10:59
isn't he about golf, come on.
11:00
Well, a lot of people who are into other sports, they do,
11:04
we know that as golf people that there's always that
11:07
thing we have to overcome with people who love other sports.
11:10
That they don't think golfers are athletes,
11:13
then of course we know, though, that the greatest athletes
11:15
in the world think the world of golf because
11:17
once they try it, they realize how incredible the game is
11:21
and how difficult it is.
11:22
Then, of course, it's helped too, having some of the
11:24
Golden State Warriors be such amazing ambassadors
11:27
for basketball and golf right now.
11:29
And the president of the United States.
11:31
That guy too.
11:32
He likes the game, I heard.
11:33
Yeah, yeah Oh yeah, yeah.
11:34
(laughing)
11:35
I was walkin' around with House at a golf tournament,
11:40
I can't remember, oh, it was the Masters.
11:41
(laughing)
11:43
So we walked in and I, of course, know you 'cause
11:48
we've met through this stuff and then also listening
11:50
to you for years with Bill's stuff.
11:53
We couldn't go more than 20 feet without people,
11:55
House, House!
11:56
And I was like, How do people know you?
11:57
And you were like, I have no idea.
11:59
(laughing)
12:01
Is it weird, to where you go around and people
12:03
recognizing you?
12:05
Of course Geoff gets stuff thrown at him
12:06
at golf tournaments a lot of times.
12:07
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I understand that.
12:08
That makes sense.
12:09
Yeah, sure it's weird.
12:10
Of course it's weird.
12:11
But we've been doing it for a long time.
12:14
That 2007 on the podcast, but I had been a character
12:17
in some of his writing, even going back
12:21
to the late '90s, early 2000s.
12:24
There had been moments, over the years, where we would be,
12:29
our pictures would be taken at things.
12:31
He was on TV for basketball.
12:35
There was a couple times where, in the Grantland world,
12:38
with the website that he founded, we did a couple
12:41
video series, including one where my love of food
12:45
was shown to the world.
12:47
Exposed. Exposed, (laughs) right.
12:49
In a graphic fashion.
12:50
That's true.
12:53
And so I got some recogni--
12:54
people started to put a face with the name
12:57
and so that's how I think people come to recognize me.
13:00
Well golf is gonna be, I think, interesting
13:03
for you to be covering.
13:05
Geoff knows this too, 'cause a little bit of your story
13:08
of sort of being an outsider that invaded the sport.
13:11
Amanda and I were talking about this as we were listening
13:14
to the podcast, 'cause Amanda went through the same thing,
13:16
is being an outsider in the game,
13:19
it's a different thing to be and our sport particular,
13:23
'cause we're really resistant to folks from the outside
13:26
commenting or being a part of the game.
13:29
Yeah, I think that was,
13:30
it's almost like starting out in New York.
13:32
You can't fake knowledge to New Yorkers.
13:35
They know if you're fake right away.
13:37
Golf fans are the same way, they're fanatics.
13:39
So Joe, was it intimidating for you to enter
13:42
into this space, where you either knew your stuff,
13:46
or you were gonna sink?
13:48
And how did you prepare for that, because you knew
13:50
Shackelford, he already got off to a headstart, right?
13:53
Yeah, I would say.
13:55
He had a 25 year headstart (laughs).
13:57
Small headstart. (laughs)
13:58
Honestly, the opportunity to get on the phone and talk
14:02
with Geoff, we met over the telephone.
14:06
Me in Washington, DC, him out here in California.
14:09
We had a couple conversations and we just went right in
14:13
on topics of the day in those early conversations.
14:20
To his great credit, he took away quite a bit
14:23
of the apprehension that I felt.
14:26
I was intimidated, no two ways about it,
14:29
about jumping into this thing
14:30
for the very reason Harry just described.
14:33
But Geoff and I hit it off and I do have a pretty deep
14:38
love for the game, and I've been an avid consumer
14:42
of all things golf, so I was able to hold my own
14:44
a little bit with him, and that made it go down
14:47
a little bit easier.
14:48
During Masters week, you told us that when Bill was on
14:51
the ShackHouse podcast, he mispronounced a lotta names.
14:54
Early on with you guys,
14:55
Yeah. Oh my god.
14:56
(laughing)
14:57
Carl Schwartzel, was it?
14:59
Carl, I'm sure you're big fans of Carl.
15:01
Did you ever have, I mean I know I certainly had
15:04
those moments, have you ever had those moments
15:06
where you misstep a little bit, Geoff's like, Woah.
15:09
With him?
15:09
Yeah, or on the air, or just--
15:10
I still don't know how to say, is it Speeth or Spaeth?
15:13
(laughing)
15:15
I still have an issue with that one.
15:17
It's Jordan. It's Jordan, Jordan.
15:18
Got it.
15:19
(laughing)
15:20
But otherwise, no we're cool.
15:21
But to your point about golf and the inclusiveness thing.
15:24
On one show, he confused the PGA of America and the PGA tour
15:29
and that's a mistake that Sports Illustrated made
15:31
until about three years ago.
15:32
Is there a difference?
15:33
Constantly.
15:34
(laughing)
15:35
A few people said, Wow, where did you find this guy?
15:39
He doesn't know the difference.
15:40
I'm like, Half the people in golf couldn't tell you
15:42
the difference between those two organizations.
15:44
That's not a big deal, relax.
15:47
But that kinda speaks to that clubby--
15:48
Isn't he a good teammate, because if he wasn't part
15:50
of your podcast, he'd be killing you right now.
15:52
I'd be fine, I'd be fine.
15:53
No, come on.
15:54
(laughing)
15:56
It's good to be the outsider, 'cause you can say
15:59
a lot of things that are provocative, and then he's
16:02
the one that has to pick up the slack for you,
16:05
'cause he's out on tour.
16:06
The dirty secret is, I hit him up for the stuff,
16:09
for all the things that he can't say.
16:14
He sends you over a list of, Here's all the things
16:16
you gotta talk about today 'cause I'm not allowed to.
16:19
Yeah, like that guy Jordan, we had a little
16:21
conversation about this.
16:23
We think he could use a little lovin'.
16:25
(laughing) I mean he's so
16:27
he's so frustrated. Did we?
16:28
I don't remember discussing that with you.
16:29
Why is he so frustrated?
16:30
What's wrong with the guy?
16:31
[Harry] I'm not sure I'm familiar with that topic.
16:33
I shot 64, I'm so frustrated!
16:35
I have an idea.
16:36
(laughing)
16:38
I have an idea too.
16:40
Let's go to a break and we'll be right back.
16:41
(cheering)
16:42
With ShackHouse right after this.
16:43
(applauding)
16:47
(upbeat music)
16:56
(electric guitar music)
16:59
So this drill is called the spiral.
17:01
I do that quite often in my practice.
17:04
So it's three, four, five, six, seven foot.
17:08
One ball on each and I have to make them all
17:10
consecutively to complete the drill.
17:14
You just gotta
17:16
pick your line and
17:18
make sure you hit a good putt.
17:24
Then you move onto the next one.
17:37
This is the fun one, because if I don't make this one,
17:39
I have to start all over again.
17:50
But with a White Hot RX, you don't have to start over again.
17:53
(electric guitar music)
17:57
(applauding)
18:01
Welcome back to Callaway Live.
18:02
Here we are now, Geoff Shackelford, Joe House.
18:05
ShackHouse.
18:07
The dynamic duo.
18:09
Henrich, what a crazy guy that guy.
18:11
Do you love that about golf, just how the stupid things
18:15
people do on the golf course to try to figure out
18:18
how to swing a golf club?
18:19
Yeah, of course, that's part of the grand beauty
18:23
of the game.
18:24
The thing that I would like to learn at some point,
18:28
maybe somebody here from Callaway could teach me,
18:31
is the bouncin' the ball on the wedge and the swing.
18:34
Can you do that? What was the groan?
18:36
What was that groan?
18:37
It's a tough one.
18:38
Can you do that one?
18:38
No, no.
18:39
Are you anti the trick shot?
18:40
What do you mean?
18:42
I love the trick shots
18:44
I admire that ability, but it's a talent.
18:47
Aren't you friendly with Dude Perfect?
18:49
Oh yeah.
18:50
Where are those guys?
18:51
Absolutely, they should be here, they're blowin' up.
18:53
I've heard that.
18:55
I think that is the thing that they do
18:57
that people don't realize, how hard it is just to do that
19:01
and then they start throwin' all around and through
19:03
the legs and then, the one that Gary Williams
19:06
on Morning Drive whenever we show those, just flips
19:08
out about is the way one of the Bryan brothers then
19:10
hits the driver somewhere midway in the air,
19:13
and just belts it!
19:14
220, 250.
19:16
Always on the first take, too, Geoff.
19:17
There's no editing Yeah, right.
19:19
Involved in that at all.
19:21
Do you ever feel like there's any topic that is not
19:27
on the table for you guys to talk about on ShackHouse?
19:31
Is there ever anything that you're like, once you
19:33
guys are talkin' about, it's just
19:34
Hey, I don't wanna touch this one.
19:37
Before the break, I would say there can't be.
19:39
(laughing)
19:40
But is there anything that Geoff, would just be out there?
19:43
Really there can't be?
19:44
Let me try.
19:46
Let's see, is this gonna be edited?
19:48
(laughing)
19:49
Sure, no.
19:50
Do you ever ...
19:51
There's no editing here.
19:52
No, I can't think of anything at the moment, really
19:54
that's so far.
19:55
If we got into dreary stuff like drug testing and all that
20:01
and something happened, but I ...
20:03
No, we really have ...
20:05
I just started blabbing on the last show about
20:07
some stuff with Donald Trump and something I haven't
20:10
even written yet and I saw somebody at Yahoo
20:12
turned it into an article and I went, Oh yeah,
20:13
maybe I need to watch what I say a little bit more.
20:16
Although I stand by what I said on the show.
20:19
But I can't really ...
20:21
No, I think it's the opposite.
20:23
I think the whole point is to be candid and
20:26
to give our takes.
20:28
Sometimes they might be a little warm,
20:30
sometimes they're hot takes.
20:32
(laughing)
20:33
But to give our takes on really every single thing.
20:38
If we were doing a show this coming Monday,
20:41
So at this point in the program, Joe House
20:43
said something extremely provocative and controversial,
20:46
so we had to edit it out.
20:47
Now we bring you back in to Callaway Live.
20:49
So what about, you guys were very vocal about
20:52
the course setup at the TPC.
20:55
Heard anything about that, Geoff?
20:57
Anybody from the tour call you, wanting to know,
21:00
Hey, keep it on the D low?
21:02
No, no, actually the opposite.
21:04
'Cause I talked and wrote about it quite a bit.
21:07
I was very supportive of them, because I watched
21:09
them work, setting up courses.
21:11
They are unbelievable.
21:12
These guys will go out and worry, they'll see putts
21:15
diving too much to the hole, and they'll change a cup.
21:18
They're not like certain other organizations
21:20
based in Far Hills, New Jersey that tend to do things
21:22
that I think they actually enjoy doing that.
21:26
I actually was very supportive of them and heard from them
21:28
and say thank you for doing that, 'cause I really, truly
21:31
believe that it just was one of those things.
21:34
It got away from 'em.
21:35
The weather was not what they expected and the greens
21:37
were already really quick.
21:39
But I love those kinds of course setup, boondoggles
21:43
'cause they're entertaining and you get to hear players
21:45
gripe about things and get nasty.
21:49
But I did feel bad for them, 'cause I know in their hearts
21:51
they do not want to embarrass the players.
21:53
Well, we thought that too.
21:54
We thought we would do the course setup guys a big favor
21:58
because we feel like they're running outta stuff
22:00
to try to make the course harder for players.
22:04
Now, you really can't do a lot, guys are hittin' it
22:07
really far and I know, Geoff, you're a fan of the
22:09
advancement of technology.
22:10
You really can't do much, so we decided, Amanda, right?
22:14
That we're gonna take a crack We did.
22:15
At maybe some new ideas Can I just say
22:17
To help toughen it up.
22:18
We need to hand out bullet proof vests for the next
22:20
Callaway Live, there's so many shots fired
22:21
happening right now from everyone in this area.
22:25
So let's try and More in this area
22:26
really than over here.
22:28
Let's keep it a little bit more fun.
22:29
Easy for you to say, behind the bullet proof bar.
22:31
Me and the giraffe, that's all I have right now.
22:32
I'm in the safe zone.
22:33
We came up with ideas of how to make courses tougher
22:38
without affecting the greens.
22:40
We don't need fast greens to make things challenging.
22:44
We wanna hear your hot takes on these ideas,
22:48
if this would maybe fly on GeoffShackelford.com, perhaps.
22:51
So the first one, you mentioned Donald Trump,
22:54
so we'll start with Donald Trump.
22:56
We'll talk about Doral, the 18th.
22:58
What are your thoughts of,
23:00
Trump likes things really big, right?
23:03
He likes big fountains, he likes big, huge
23:06
in my best Donald Trump impersonation, huge!
23:10
Big walls.
23:11
What do you think about putting up a big wall on 18?
23:14
Take a look right behind you. Beautiful wall.
23:15
Let's see it.
23:16
Right behind you.
23:17
It's coming. There's no wall there.
23:20
I see it over there. Oh, wait.
23:22
There it is!
23:24
Delayed reaction, we had to build that wall.
23:26
That is not the kind of wall that the Donald would,
23:27
his would be beautiful, there'd be gold trim,
23:29
it'd be paid for by Mexico.
23:31
(laughing)
23:32
It's a great point.
23:34
That'd be tough though.
23:35
I don't know what you'd do there, if you got on the
23:36
other side of the wall.
23:38
You'd have to hit a giant flop shot
23:40
or something like that.
23:41
Yay or nay. You say no to that?
23:42
Yay, that's a yeah!
23:44
Yay for the wall, okay.
23:45
He says nay, I say yay.
23:46
What else do we got, any of these any funnier?
23:48
(laughing)
23:50
Listen, you're the one that came up with them, Henry.
23:52
Wow, that's only the first one!
23:54
You mentioned a little bit earlier your love for eating.
23:58
So, we thought we would take this a little bit further.
24:01
What do you think about before guys teein' up,
24:04
they would have to have an eating contest
24:06
before they play 18 holes?
24:08
(groaning)
24:11
I think there's some guys on tour that would welcome that.
24:14
Not to name names, but.
24:16
Not to name names.
24:17
I don't know if that's just perspective or not,
24:19
but are those giant hot dogs, what is that?
24:21
(laughing)
24:22
I don't know whether they're giant or not,
24:24
but I would like one.
24:25
How many hot dogs, House, could you put down
24:27
in five minutes?
24:30
I'm not one of those dudes.
24:31
I'm a grand consumer over time.
24:34
But pretend you were.
24:36
Like, five.
24:37
I'm not a speed eater. That's terrible!
24:39
I'm not a speed guy, I'm a volume guy.
24:41
This is a true story.
24:42
We had lunch today in the cafeteria here, our five-star
24:45
cafeteria. It was great.
24:47
Everybody gets the salad, soup, I'm looking over
24:49
and he has prime rib for lunch.
24:51
(laughing)
24:52
Before I could even get a third of the way through my salad,
24:55
he had downed the entire prime rib and was going back
24:57
for seconds.
24:58
They have a beer mile, actually.
24:59
Do you know about the beer mile?
25:00
I heard of that.
25:02
That would be great.
25:03
Now we're talkin'.
25:05
Extreme eating golf tournament.
25:06
So yay or nay to the eating contest?
25:09
Strong thumbs up. Strong yes.
25:11
I give it a yay if they eat and then you spin 'em around
25:13
a few times and then they tee off.
25:15
I think that'd be more fun. You're just mean.
25:17
You're mean.
25:18
A little vomit never hurt anybody.
25:19
Next one, I know you guys love all the fashion
25:22
that's been going on currently on the PGA tour.
25:24
Love the joggers.
25:25
Geoff especially, you love the joggers,
25:27
you love the high tops.
25:28
We were thinking what if we put mirrors on the first tee?
25:33
Take a look at that.
25:34
Nice. You like that?
25:36
And these guys, you know they love themselves a lot.
25:38
Oh yeah.
25:40
I'm gonna give another strong endorsement of this one.
25:44
I wish they had this on Saturday for Rory.
25:47
'Cause if he coulda seen himself, and how ridiculous
25:49
he looked in those poofy pants.
25:51
Oh no, here he goes.
25:53
For the love of God, Rory!
25:54
Clean it up!
25:55
I will say I like that look, but he did not
25:57
execute it well at all.
26:00
I think if somebody's payin' ya,
26:03
you can wear whatever you want.
26:04
You know what's great about those mirrors, though?
26:06
(laughing)
26:07
That's just right for a temper tantrum and somebody
26:10
to just absolutely swat away at those.
26:12
That'd be great television.
26:13
I would, I have body image issues.
26:15
And they get seven more years of bad luck, right?
26:17
I'm goin' thumbs down on the ...
26:19
Yay or nay with the mirrors?
26:19
Harry's thumbs down.
26:21
I'm going' thumbs down.
26:22
Thumbs down, thumbs down?
26:23
Okay, get the mirror outta here, that was a terrible
26:25
idea, whoever thought of that.
26:26
Last one.
26:27
Courtesy cars.
26:28
You know these guys that are really rough,
26:30
they're driving around these beautiful new cars.
26:32
I feel like this one is really gonna mess
26:33
with the players, 'cause they are a little bit
26:35
particular about having everything.
26:37
They can be very diva-esque.
26:38
So this is normally what the guys roll off
26:42
into the tournaments in.
26:43
That's pretty nice.
26:44
What if, we made it more challenging by putting them
26:46
in, drum roll,
26:49
JRod's used luxury rides. JRod's used luxury rides.
26:51
Yes, yes.
26:53
Like that?
26:54
Wow, how did you slim him down so much?
26:56
(laughing)
26:58
Couldn't you see like Danny Willett or something ridin'
27:00
in the orange car there pulling in?
27:02
He Photoshops his own photos.
27:03
Can you imagine the complaints if they didn't have
27:05
air conditioning going to the course?
27:08
Thumbs up on this one, why not?
27:09
I like it.
27:10
I'm worried that the clubs wouldn't let 'em get
27:12
anywhere near it, right?
27:13
They wouldn't make it through security.
27:14
(chuckling)
27:16
I like it because that car, when the players leave
27:18
it at the airport, when they're really cranky
27:20
and they're rude and many players have been known
27:23
to leave them curbside, apparently thinking the
27:26
transportation fairy is gonna come pick them up,
27:29
that one will stand out a little bit more.
27:32
Okay, so yay or nay to the JRod's used luxury rides
27:35
courtesy vehicles?
27:36
Oh yeah. Definitely a yay.
27:37
Again, great Photoshop by Jrod.
27:39
All this really in the spirit of leave the golf courses
27:43
alone, don't trick them up, let's just try to do
27:46
other things around there.
27:47
That would be nice, not gonna happen.
27:49
What's next for ShackHouse?
27:50
What are you guys looking out over the future?
27:52
How many podcasts we got left for the rest of the year here?
27:55
A bunch.
27:55
16 or so.
27:56
Yeah, a bunch.
27:57
15, yeah, 16 and we're trying to get some guests.
28:01
We wanna expose some people to the golf world
28:05
that maybe you know love golf, or work in golf
28:09
but kinda show sides to them that may shock you a little bit
28:13
in terms of how much they love the game or what they do.
28:15
I don't know if we wanna mention names yet.
28:17
We're gonna work on that.
28:19
We have some good names, though.
28:20
We do that here at Callaway Live.
28:22
We got a great list of guests lined up for the rest
28:24
of the year.
28:25
(laughing)
28:28
Maybe ShackHouse will come back.
28:30
How do we find the podcast, by the way?
28:31
I know how to find it.
28:32
How would you recommend people find it?
28:34
Any podcast app, anything on iTunes, just Google,
28:37
or excuse me, just search ...
28:40
I'm not gonna yell it.
28:41
ShackHouse. Do it.
28:43
ShackHouse!
28:43
There you go. There you go.
28:45
(laughing)
28:46
And you can't go wrong, you'll find it.
28:47
We have it on our website as well.
28:48
iTunes is great, but Stitcher, SoundCloud, Overcast.
28:50
Callaway.com.
28:52
CallawayGolf.com
28:53
Weather.com.
28:54
(laughing)
28:55
Pretty much. No, not weather.com.
28:56
Well we appreciate you guys bein' here.
28:58
Thanks, Joe.
28:59
Thanks, Geoff, we'll hug it out.
29:01
Come here, Geoff, there we go!
29:02
(yelling) (applause)
29:07
Next week, we got Ted Bishop on the show.
29:10
Thanks for watchin'.
29:11
ShackHouse!
29:12
See you next time with Callaway Live.
29:14
(cheering)
29:17
(upbeat music)
29:20
Let's dance.
29:21
Oh, no!
29:23
(applauding)
29:28
Thanks, that was fun!
29:31
You're our first two-timer!
29:31
Are we the first two guests?
29:34
First time ever, yeah.
29:35
Wow.
29:36
That was fun, I like that.
29:38
(upbeat music)
