So Johnny Miller signed off for the final time
00:02
after the third round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
00:04
And it's too bad because there was a lot
00:06
of choking going on in the final round.
00:09
And he would've really enjoyed it.
00:10
I miss you already Johnny.
00:12
Ricky Fowler wound up winning but wow was it ugly.
00:15
And it included one of the weirdest penalties ever
00:18
when moments after taking a drop
00:19
for chipping in to the water,
00:21
Ricky's ball rolled into the water.
00:24
And this came a day after Denny McCarthy was penalized
00:26
for his caddie lining him up for a practice swing?
00:30
That ridiculous ruling was eventually rescinded
00:32
by the PGA Tour but it caused a confused
00:35
Lee Westwood to Tweet I still have to get
00:37
the little white ball into the little white hole right?
00:41
That's correct Lee.
00:42
But while doing that it's best
00:43
that you don't beat the living crap
00:45
out of the golf course you're playing.
00:47
In a bizarre twist that made these other rules issues
00:49
seem almost dull by comparison,
00:52
Sergio Garcia was disqualified after the third round
00:54
of the European Tour's Saudi International
00:57
for serious misconduct.
00:59
Under new rule 1.2A.
01:01
Which allows a tournament committee to bounce
01:03
a player for not playing in the spirit of the game.
01:06
Including taking good care of the course.
01:09
Apparently purposely damaging as many as five greens
01:13
by dragging your feet and taking a divot
01:15
with your putter violates this rule.
01:17
Garcia accepted the DQ, apologized,
01:20
and promised it would never happen again.
01:22
And while there's no video of what he did on the greens,
01:24
footage of him from the day before
01:26
throwing a temper tantrum in one of the courses bunkers
01:29
after a bad rake job went viral.
01:31
And if this is Sergio's rake rage,
01:33
I shudder to think what his road rage is like.
01:37
Two important things to note here.
01:39
Again this was not even the main reason why Sergio was DQ'd.
01:44
And second Sergio is a 39 year old Masters champ.
01:48
Seriously the average two year old
01:50
acts more maturely in a sandbox.
01:53
Then again Sergio once spit in the hole
01:55
after being upset with a missed putt.
01:57
He's lucky rule 1.2A wasn't around back then.
02:00
But it's here now and it's probably gonna be
02:02
unofficially called the Garcia rule going forward.
02:05
Sorry Sergio.
02:06
And to fellow hot heads everywhere, beware.
