Here's a situation you run into all the time.
00:06
You've hit the ball just in the rough,
00:08
but your ball's perched up so high,
00:09
you feel like you could hit a driver off of it.
00:11
The only problem is, it's, say,
00:13
165 yards, that's a six iron shot for me.
00:16
What you have to guard against
00:18
is making your normal down swing
00:20
where you drive down into the back of this ball,
00:23
because as you drive your way forward,
00:25
you drive down and this ball's teed up too high,
00:27
you're only gonna hit it on the top of the club.
00:30
So you have to stand a little taller
00:31
and be a lot quieter in your lower body
00:34
so you can just sweep the ball off the top of the grass.
00:37
This is one time we're not gonna hit
00:39
down and through with the iron.
00:40
We're gonna stand taller,
00:42
we're gonna quiet our lower body
00:43
and let our arm swing past.
00:45
Here's what it looks like.
00:48
Little taller.
00:49
Hold the club up at the level of the ball.
00:51
(club hits ball)
00:53
And sweep it off the top.
00:54
Next time you're in the rough and
00:56
that ball's perched up, don't hit down on it.
00:58
Sweep it right off the top of the grass.
