One of the things that we encounter
00:05
at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort is an ever-changing wind.
00:08
What we like to do is have people embrace the wind,
00:10
knowing it's gonna be there all day
00:12
whether it's at your back or in your face.
00:14
Thankfully when we're hitting a tee shot
00:16
there's things that we can do
00:17
in both our set up and our approach to the golf shot
00:20
that can help offset some of the characteristics
00:22
of the wind we're facing.
00:24
Let's start with how high we tee the golf ball.
00:27
I recommend keeping everything consistent.
00:29
We don't need to tee the ball down
00:31
because that changes the angle of attack
00:33
when you come in with the driver.
00:35
The parts of the golf swing
00:36
that we are gonna change is
00:37
we're gonna change the tempo and the speed
00:39
at which we're trying to hit the golf ball.
00:41
I like to talk about hitting a practice swing speed,
00:44
which is a little bit slower than what traditionally
00:47
people are swinging at the golf ball.
00:49
This is gonna help decrease the amount of ball spin,
00:51
which is gonna keep the ball flight
00:52
at a little bit lower.
00:53
The other thing we're gonna do is
00:55
we're gonna grip down on our driver
00:56
about half an inch,
00:57
which helps adjust the length of our driver
01:00
and again has an effect on the speed of the ball
01:02
coming off the club face.
01:04
If you find yourself out of balance
01:06
the easiest way to regain that balance
01:07
is to take a wider stance.
01:09
If we do that that's gonna affect the amount
01:11
that we're able to turn.
01:13
So while we want to keep everything
01:14
as consistent as possible,
01:15
we do want to make sure that we can swing
01:17
at a balanced position,
01:18
so if that requires a wider stance,
01:20
make sure we take a couple practice swings
01:22
to account for that change in our setup.
01:25
Remember while you're out there playing golf,
01:27
embrace the wind.
01:28
It's one of the challenges that you find
01:30
unlinks golf, that helps make it more enjoyable.
