You know that little old man that walks down the street
00:02
to go to the grocery store.
00:03
He's cute and all, but the last thing you wanna be
00:05
when you're that age is a rounded back guy
00:08
walking about two miles an hour.
00:10
Well that posture is called kyphosis or kyphotic posture
00:14
and it's also a huge killer in the golf swing.
00:16
So first I'd like to show you an exercise
00:18
on this BOSU ball that will help counter
00:21
the effects of it and particularly if you have a desk job
00:24
sitting all day with your shoulders rounded over.
00:27
So with this one, I'm going to get into a balanced position
00:30
on the BOSU.
00:32
So I'm really holding this now.
00:33
Now my core is really firing, really engaged,
00:36
holding me here.
00:37
And then I'm just gonna stretch out
00:40
and then come back up.
00:42
Stretch out and come back up.
00:46
Now you'll find your balance point.
00:47
I was going over a little bit too far on the backside,
00:50
but you'll find your balance point.
00:52
That's the first exercise I'd like to show you
00:53
on the BOSU sitting.
00:56
Second, we gotta work those obliques too.
00:59
They help prop up your truck as you sit.
01:02
So they also play a huge role in the golf swing.
01:05
That's where most of your rotary movement comes from.
01:08
It shouldn't come from the lower part of your spine.
01:09
It should come from your obliques.
01:12
So now when I sit on the BOSU,
01:14
I'm gonna take this weighted bar,
01:15
but you could use a golf club at home.
01:17
Place it across my chest.
01:19
Again, try to get into a balanced position
01:21
where my ab muscles are really holding me here
01:24
and then rotate back and forth
01:27
as far as I can
01:30
without losing my balance.
01:31
This is a tough one.
01:34
So if you use the BOSU for those two seated exercises,
01:38
you're gonna help counter kyphotic posture,
01:40
it's gonna help with your golf swing
01:41
and you're gonna be able to turn more.
01:43
Bigger backswing, farther drives.
01:46
Hope this helps ya.
01:47
Thanks for watching.
