We've all been there.
00:05
You've hit that shank and you're worried
00:08
it's going to turn into a mental problem.
00:10
If you do more than one, here's a good way you can practice
00:13
to make sure it doesn't happen again.
00:15
First off, when you shank the ball,
00:16
true shankers hit off the hosel of the club.
00:18
Make sure you're shanking off the hosel of the club
00:20
and not off the toe of the club
00:22
but if you're hitting off the hosel of the club
00:24
what's happening is your swing
00:25
is going out too far, past the golf ball.
00:29
You're starting off in a good position
00:30
but you're returning out too far
00:32
and that puts the ball towards the hosel.
00:34
Take something and put it down just outside the ball.
00:37
I've got my driver head cover here
00:39
and I've given myself just enough room
00:42
to make sure that when I swing the club,
00:44
if I miss the head cover,
00:46
I'm guaranteed to get the ball somewhere in the clubface
00:49
and not on the heel of the club.
00:51
You could put a row of tees there,
00:52
you could put an empty plastic range bucket there,
00:56
maybe an empty water bottle
00:58
but make sure you have something out there
01:00
that when you swing you can avoid.
01:02
And as long as I miss that head cover
01:05
there is no way in the world
01:06
I'm gonna shank one off the heel.
01:09
Make sure you practice that
01:10
and the shanks will be gone forever.
