So, here I am in my backyard gym,

and I'm gonna demonstrate Ralph Simpson's exercise

that will help you activate the gluteus medius

out here on the side of your butt.

This muscle's very important to keep you from swaying

or sliding as you swing the club.

So the way to activate it is take a stretch band,

anchor it around your waist,

and you wanna feel like the stretch band

is pulling you back to the left a little bit.

Now, from this position, I'm gonna mimic sort

of what a speed skater would do in this position.

I'm gonna stay stacked over my left,

and extend out to my right.

Now, it's important when you do this extension

that you feel it in the middle of your foot,

'cause if you go out too far forward,

the quadricep muscle will take over.

You wanna feel that butt muscle really firing
