This is Patrea with 15 to Fit Pilates.
00:03
She's going to show us an exercise
00:05
specifically for golfers to help us
00:07
increase rotation in our golf swing.
00:09
We are going to the exercise on the Pilates Reformer
00:12
called the Merman.
00:13
It's going to increase rotation of your thoracic spine.
00:15
From here, Karen's just sitting here,
00:18
her left arm is reaching up in the air,
00:19
she's inhaling tall then exhale,
00:21
reaching over and pressing out.
00:24
Then from here, she's going to reach up,
00:25
and then reach under and really rotate here,
00:29
then she comes back to parallel
00:31
and then all the way up again.
00:33
Then from here, she's doing the counter stretch,
00:35
where she's reaching onto the shoulder block.
00:37
She inhales her right arm up and exhales over
00:41
and then she's going to increase that rotation even more
00:44
and hold onto the shoulder block.
00:47
[Narrator] You can make this exercise
00:48
more challenging by placing both knees on the Reformer
00:51
like this, to lengthen the spine even more.
00:57
If you don't have access to a Reformer,
00:59
you can always do this exercise on the floor.
01:02
All Pilates exercises are effective in helping you
01:05
increase your torso rotation, for a better golf swing.
