Here's a way to deal with
00:05
some fairway that's between you and the green
00:08
that sometimes is really kinda sketchy.
00:12
Maybe lawn, maybe zoysia, maybe the grains into you,
00:16
you cannot putt through it.
00:18
I remind myself of Ray Floyd.
00:20
One of the greatest chippers there ever was.
00:23
He preferred to be chipping off a fringe
00:25
from this far off the green many times in putting.
00:28
And what he would do,
00:29
I watched him very closely.
00:31
He would get a 5-iron
00:33
and he would get in the position
00:34
where he'd be in the putting position like this
00:36
with his hands up high.
00:38
And he would get a slight lean of the shaft
00:42
where the shaft is looking backwards just a little bit.
00:45
Weight on his left foot.
00:47
And he would take his putting stroke with the 5-iron.
00:51
But my arms are bent, they're not straight.
00:53
And he would take it and go.
01:01
Gets the ball on the green,
01:03
gets the ball rolling like a putt.
01:05
Very simple, takes a lot of the risk out of this shot.
