Growing up I used to love hitting balls at home.
Basically it was plastic golf balls off a shag carpet
in my living room.
I wish I knew about the Acu-Strike Training Mat
way back when.
You see with the Acu-Strike,
you can actually truly see your swing path
as well as your clubs impact location on every swing.
The Acu-Strike comes in two versions,
I have the indoor version here,
as well as an outdoor version.
The indoor version has a one inch piece of foam
so you don't break your wrists
while you're hitting the balls inside.
Other than that they're exactly the same.
They're both 10 inches by 19 inches
so it's a nice piece of turf to hit off.
And they have the exact same felt carpets.
They react exactly the same way
whether you're indoors or out.
So let me show you a couple things here.
So I'm gonna take a couple swings.
So a lot of teaching pros say
they want you to contact the ball first
and your impact should be in front of the ball.
So let's see how I do here.
So I actually, in this particular case,
impacted well behind the ball
but a perfect swing path.
So here's the beauty of the Acu-Strike.
After a single shot you just run the club
in the direction opposite that you just swung
and you've wiped away the mark.
And ready to start over.
So now I'm gonna make an exaggerated inside to out move
just to see what the path looks like.
So again, swung way behind the ball,
too far inside to out.
And one last one, for a lot of you
you make too much of an outside to in move
and so typically this is what it'll look like,
[thwack] out to in.
So the beauty of the Acu-Strike
is that you can self diagnose your swing.
You know exactly what your swing path is.
You know exactly what your impact location is
on every single shot.
So let me go ahead and hit a full swing for you.
So you simply put the ball right on the mark.
Don't actually hit real balls inside.
I hate to say it but that was perfection.
I basically pured that.
Impact in front of the ball,
perfect swing path,
I can't do better than that.
So one thing to keep in mind when you're hitting indoors,
as I mentioned, there's a one inch piece of foam here
so if you are in a normal situation, normal carpet,
you might actually have the ball slightly above your feet.
So there are a couple of ways to level out the lie.
The first, company does sell a standing mat.
It's a pretty big piece of turf.
It's two feet by three feet.
So you can either buy the standing mat
and address the ball.
Or you can actually take the indoor mat outdoors,
to an outdoor driving range in a similar setup
to what we have here and this is another way
that you can level off your lie.
So the Acu-Strike is a great way to train your swing path
as well as your impact location all by yourself.
