Oh, hey Harry. What's up?
00:10
Adam, what's up man?
00:11
I'm so glad you're on the show tonight.
00:13
Yeah, I'm excited to be there too.
00:14
I'm just on the 59 right now.
00:15
The 59? Don't you mean the 5?
00:18
No, I'm pretty sure it's the 59.
00:20
Uh. Okay, whatever.
00:22
We're getting pretty close to showtime
00:24

00:26

00:27
Harry, just give me a second here.
00:27
I just gotta get some food real quick.
00:29
I'm doing well, how are you?

Good. What can I get started for you?
00:31
Good. Can I get a number 59, no onions,

Hello everybody. It's Callaway Live.
01:43
I'm Harry Arnett and that's Jeff Neubarth.
01:45
He's the executive producer
01:46
of the entire Callaway's mini productions empire.
01:49
This is our worst nightmare.
01:50
We're doing a live show and there's no audience.
01:52
Yeah, but don't you love the graphic enhancement
01:54
'cause I bet people have figured out what we're doing here.
01:56
Yeah, apparently we've saved a little money
01:57
in our graphics department, we went straight
01:59
PowerPoint back here.
02:00
Thanks Florida.
02:01
But it's the end of the show
02:02
so save your tears til the end of the show.
02:04
Jeff and I thought it'd be a good idea
02:05
to kinda look back on season three,
02:07
the trace of Callaway Live and some of our favorite moments-
02:11
And we did Callaway Live a little differently
02:12
this year, I thought.
02:13
I know. We've done a lot of things differently.
02:14
I don't know if you remember,
02:15
we did this kinda recap two years ago,
02:18
and I think we it take it a little more seriously now
02:20
'cause I actually shaved.
02:22
You shaved, you got the jacket on.
02:23
I actually brought a tie somewhere.
02:25
I couldn't figure out how to tie it.
02:26
The shoes are awesome.
02:27
How about this? The official shoe of Callaway Live.
02:30
We've got the same shoe on, this is outstanding.
02:33
Well this year we did-
02:34
as you said, we did it a little differently.
02:35
Season one of Callaway Live,
02:38
which was ground breaking at the time,
02:40
now it just seems like old hat that we're
02:42
in an empty studio.
02:43
Right.
02:44
But season one of Callaway Live,
02:45
we did 20- I think 25 shows that year,
02:48
26 consecutive weeks live show.
02:53
I know, that was crazy.
02:54
Why'd we do that?
02:54
What were we thinking?
02:55
Well, you know, I think the one thing
02:57
that was fun about that year was,
03:00
we had no idea what we were doing
03:02
and clearly it showed.
03:03
As opposed to now, where we obviously know
03:05
what we're doing.
03:05
Totally, we know what we're doing now.
03:07
But doing it live, there's a certain energy to it.
03:09
But there's also some downsides to doing it live.
03:12
So I think we've gotten smarter and wise as we get older,
03:16
which, clearly is happening.
03:17
I liked that. And we did it in blocks.
03:19
Yeah, which is different.
03:21
We also have a guy walking around making a lot of noise.
03:23
[Jeff] At least someone's in here.
03:26
Lexy can edit that out.
03:29
We did it differently this year.
03:30
So we did it actually in blocks.
03:32
And our first block, we came,
03:34
I felt like we came roaring right out of the gate.
03:36
Yeah, I mean it's always,
03:37
when we get that letter from the network
03:39
that we're renewed for another year
03:41
and that's really just a two second conversation between us,
03:43
you wanna do it, sure let's do it again,
03:46
we wanted to come out big.
03:47
And we wanted to get some great guests.
03:48
And we've always wanted to have a Hollywood A lister,
03:51
we always love having sports casters on here.
03:53
And block one certainly didn't disappoint.
03:55
Put them all together and you have block one.
03:56
And here's some of the best from block one.
03:59
What is that like to get that kind of call?
04:02
I wasn't expecting it at this time.

I knew we'd at some point be a part of the Olympic games,
04:31
it was in Rio, I was hoping that
04:33
that would continue in South Korea for the Winter Games
04:35
and then Tokyo and beyond that.
04:37
But when I did get the call, it surprised me.
04:38

04:44

04:55

It just shows you guys are on the same page.
17:29
As a man crush unfolded in front of everyone's eyes
17:32
right here on Callaway Live, was really good.
17:36
And then, one of the things about the show
17:39
I also like, I love talking to business leaders.
17:42
You say that with Brian Niccol.
17:43
I love talking about leadership and culture
17:46
and innovation and certainly the big chalupa,
17:47
represents all of that.
17:49
Met the Big Chalupa through David Novak,
17:52
who's on season one, who's one of my all time, you know,

17:58
And then, when we can marry that up

with sports, it's really awesome.
18:01
Remember, we had Terry McGuirk and Greg Maffei on the show,
18:05
Terry, of course the CEO of the Atlanta Braves
18:07
who also happened to be my favorite team
18:09
and Greg Maffei, the CEO of Liberty who owns the Braves.
18:13
And then, they introduced us to Rob Manfred,
18:17
the Commish of Baseball.
18:18
Yeah, how cool is that?
18:20
That the Commissioner of Baseball,
18:21
one of the busiest people in all of sports,
18:23
made time to come down and do Callaway Live
18:25
and enjoyed it?
18:26
Loved it. That was a major highlight for Callaway Live.
18:30
There's a whole historical perspective
18:33
and a legacy and a tradition of the sport.
18:35
But, at the same time, you have to be responsible
18:39
for innovating in order to grow the game.
18:41
How do you balance those two things at the same time?
18:43
You know, you ask a great question
18:44
'cause it's actually the hardest thing about the job.
18:47
You know, I have great respect for the history
18:49
and tradition of the game, on the one hand.
18:52
On the other hand, no institution,
18:55
even if it's something like baseball
18:57
that's woven into our culture
18:59
and really important to the American psyche,
19:02
can stand still.
19:03
It has to move, it has to adjust
19:06
to the way people are living their lives.
19:08
And what we've tried to do is listen to what our fans say.
19:12
We're really research driven.
19:14
I'll give you a great example,
19:16
maybe the best one is instant replay.
19:18
You know, traditionalists were,
19:20
why do you need instant replay in baseball?
19:22
Our research showed that there was a really
19:26
fundamental desire among our fans,
19:27
our most avid fans in particular,
19:30
for us to use technology that was available
19:32
to get important calls right.
19:34
And when you know where your fans are,
19:35
you can kinda thread the needle between
19:38
respecting history and tradition
19:40
and moving the game forward.
19:41
Sometimes when we talk to the great business guys
19:44
and innovators, they end up part of our company
19:46
like the Travis Matthew guys.
19:47
I know. How cool was that?
19:48
You know, one of the great acquisitions this year
19:50
that Callaway made was the Travis Matthew,

you know, clothing brand.
19:53

20:11
Yes. We also like to not plan so much
20:14

20:18
And I think that's one of the things we really like
20:20
about the participation of the folks here at Callaway
20:22

20:24
a lot of weird stuff that happens.
