It really is amazing how easy the tour players
00:07
make bunker shots look.
00:09
They hit 'em close most of the time.
00:11
Now, amateurs, what happens is,
00:13
they tend to dig the club into the sand.
00:15
The important thing to hit a good bunker shot
00:17
is to utilize the bounce, okay?
00:19
The club is designed with bounce,
00:20
where the back of the club is higher than the front.
00:22
If you learn to use the bounce correctly,
00:24
where the club can glide through the sand,
00:26
your bunker play will improve immensely.
00:30
Step one to hit good bunker shots.
00:33
Get the club face open, and then take your grip.
00:36
Aim two to three inches behind the ball,
00:38
and make sure your body is aimed slightly to the left.
00:41
Step two, and this is important, make a full back swing.
00:45
Most players tend to have a little half swing,
00:47
and jerk at the ball.
00:48
Full back swing gets you great rhythm.
00:51
Step three.
00:52
Make sure that the sand that you make contact with,
00:55
travels all the way to the hole,
00:57
that's the way to get the distance correct.
01:00
Step four, and this is very important,
01:02
stay down with the shot.
01:03
Make sure you keep your knees flexed through impact.
01:07
Working on these four steps
01:08
will not only get you out of the bunker,
01:10
but it will also get you close to the hole.
