Here I've got a long iron approach from a tight lie,
00:16
which is a shot that gives a lot of players a hard time.
00:19
If you picture a player like Adam Scott,
00:21
who's known for having this beautiful golf swing,
00:23
hitting these high launching long irons,
00:25
he can do that because he does two things really well.
00:27
One, he manages the low point of his swing.
00:30
So, he hits ball first and the low point
00:32
occurs just past the ball.
00:34
The second thing that he does really well
00:35
is he manages the angle attack.
00:37
The club comes in nice and shallow.
00:39
It's not steep and digging into the turf,
00:41
and you can see how he has these nice, shallow divets
00:43
as the ball gets up into the air.
00:45
I want you to picture two imaginary
00:46
golf balls in front of your own.
00:48
As you hit, your going to feel like you sweep
00:49
all three golf balls up at once.
00:51
If you can do that, your going to get ball first contact
00:54
because your going to have to have your low point forward.
00:57
The second thing that you have to do is have
00:58
this nice, shallow flat spot down at the bottom
01:01
so you can catch all three balls.
01:02
So hopefully it looks a little bit like this.
