I'm Matty Du Plessis, with Golf Digest.
These guys behind me are professional golfers.
I'm gonna go ask 'em why they love this game.
Well, why do I love this game?
I guess it's like any kid that gets drawn to sports,
whether it's soccer, football, rugby in our case,
or cricket, or baseball, anything.
You know, you get a love for a sport,
and it just hangs with you, you know?
You just want to become as good as your heroes.
Hello Mr. Tiger.
My name Matty Du Plessis, from Golf Digest,
and I just wanted to know why you love this game so much.
Why I love this game?
I just love to one, I love to compete.
More importantly, I think if I look back on my childhood
my dad kept the game fun.
And from there, it transitioned into tournament golf,
and it allowed me to express myself in a competitive level.
There's just something about this game.
It's different than any other sport
because we do it on our own.
The ball doesn't move 'til we move it,
and it only goes where we make it move.
Now we have a lot of excuses why we don't hit good shots,
but one of the cool things about golf is it's all us.
Why do I love this game?
It tests your emotions.
It tests your mental ability,
on top of the physical ability.
And you have to be able to bring all three together.
I love this game because each and every day
it's a challenge.
You gotta put so much into it.
It's one day you can play as good as you can,
and the next day you just don't have it again,
so I think it's a game that you never quite conquer.
You never quite figure it out.
I think that's what keeps people coming back.
You can play with anyone.
You can play with a guy that's not a pro and still enjoy it.
You can play with your buddies and have a good time.
With other sports, it's tough to do that,
so it's one thing I really love about golf.
So why do you love this game?
Well (laughs), 'cause it pays me well.
The reason why I love this game so much,
my oldest memories are with my family.
My mom didn't play the game, but my mom carried my bag.
She was my caddy.
My dad played the game, my sister played the game.
So it was all about family time.
Instead of playing video games in my house,
it was about gettin' out, playin' with my family,
hangin' out with my family.
So the game of golf meant so much to me
as a family coming together.
It's always teaching you, you know?
It's not an easy game to conquer.
Even though you have some really good days,
you also have some days that it looks like
you don't know what you're doing.
It's just me and my caddy out there.
For the most part, just me.
It's all up to me making final decisions,
and taking care of business.
So I don't get to blame anything on anyone but me.
So you ask me why I love this game.
Why do you love gettin' to do what you do, doin' this,
and why do you love the game?
So the reason why I love this game
is 'cause it allows me to have fun,
and meet a lot of interesting people.
So let me know why you love this game.
